The transfer makes Allan Okello the second most expensive player ever sold by Vipers SC, surpassed only by Farouk Miya's $400,000 move to Belgian club Standard Liège in 2016.

According to NBS Sport, Allan Okello's fee also notably exceeds the $200,000 Vipers received for Cesar Manzoki's transfer to a Chinese club.

Allan Okello: Details About His Move to Yanga SC

The 25-year-old has signed a three-year contract with Yanga, concluding a long-standing pursuit by the Tanzanian champions for his signature.

Interestingly, Vipers had previously turned down a more lucrative offer for the midfielder. At the beginning of the 2025/26 season, the Ugandan club reportedly rejected a $500,000 bid from Yanga.

This was a decision driven by their desire to retain Allan Okello for their CAF Champions League campaign. Had that transfer materialised, Okello would have set a new club record for an outgoing player.

However, Vipers' continental ambitions were cut short as they failed to advance to the group stages. With Allan Okello entering the final year of his contract and showing no intention of renewing, the club faced a difficult decision.

Facing the prospect of losing him for free at the end of the season, Vipers opted to cash in during the January transfer window rather than let his contract expire in the summer.

Allan Okello leaves Vipers on a high note, having won both the Uganda Premier League and the Uganda Cup during the 2024/25 season.

He also claimed the league's Golden Boot with an impressive 19 goals, cementing his legacy as a key figure in the club's recent domestic success.

His arrival at Young Africans is expected to bolster their squad as they aim to continue their dominance in the Tanzanian Premier League and compete on the continental stage.
