Al Ahly edge past City Oilers for 2nd win
Al Ahly Sporting Club recorded a 72-70 victory against City Oilers in Basketball Africa League (BAL) Nile Conference fixture played on Saturday, April 29, 2023.
It was the second victory for the reigning Egyptian champions after they put up 92 points to blow out Clube FerroviƔrio da Beira from Mozambique.
Against Uganda champions City Oilers, Al Ahly started hot to take a six-point lead at the halftime break.
They also put up 20 points in the second quarter increasing their lead to 13 going to the halftime break.

In the third quarter, Al Ahly put their foot on the gas recording 21 points stretching their lead to 25 points.
The Al Ahly second unit were brought into the rotation to close the game but City Oilers mounted a comeback.
The Ugandans put up 34 points and held Al Ahly to just 11 in the fourth quarter as they came all the way back reducing the deficit to just two.
Al Ahly held on for their second win of the tournament but their tag as favorites is shaky after the performance against City Oiler.

Top performer
Sudanese professional basketball player Anunwa Omot was the MVP for Al Ahly against City Oilers.
He was the best player as Al Ahly defeated Clube FerroviƔrio da Beira of Mozambique in the opener.
Omot put up 17 points, one assist, and seven rebounds in 21 minutes of action.
Al Ahly will now return to action against Mr Eazi's Cape Town Tigers on Tuesday, May 2, 2023.
