Al Ahly Sporting Club started their Basketball Africa League (BAL) campaign with a 92-74 victory against Clube Ferroviário da Beira on Wednesday, April 26, 2023.

Al Ahly the reigning Egyptian champions started the BAL Nile Conference with a blowout victory against Clube Ferroviário da Beira of Mozambique.

At the Dr Hassan Moustafa Sports Hall, Al Ahly started on fire as they put up 32 points in the first quarter to establish a 17-point advantage.

Clube Ferroviário da Beira of Mozambique were much better in the second quarter but Al Ahly were able to increase their advantage to 19 points going to the halftime break.

In the third quarter, Clube Ferroviário da Beira of Mozambique began to fight back but Al Ahly responded with timely buckets to sustain a massive lead.

Playing in front of 1200 fans in attendance, Al Ahly coasted home in the fourth quarter to record an 18-point out victory to start their campaign.

Top performer - Anuwa Omot

Sudanese professional basketball player Anunwa Omot was the MVP for Al Ahly against Clube Ferroviário da Beira of Mozambique.

In 25 minutes of action, Omot put up 21 points to lead the team in scoring and also added three rebounds and two assists.

He had help from 31-year-old veteran Egyptian center Omar Oraby who contributed 15 points and six rebounds in 22 minutes of action.
