Both players were paired in midfield for the Super Eagles and played a key role in Nigeria’s 3-2 win over Tunisia.

Ndidi scored his first career goal for the Super Eagles in the second game of Group C of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Following his goal, he celebrated by replicating Kanu’s Olympics ‘96 celebration after the legend scored the winning goal against Brazil.

Onyeka on Ndidi's iconic celebration

Super Eagles midfielder Onyeka has revealed that Ndidi’s celebration against Tunisia was not planned.

"I learnt a lot from Wilfred," Onyeka said. "I’m happy for him—he scored today, which is good. We’ll celebrate after."

When asked if the celebration was pre-planned, Onyeka suggested it was a spontaneous moment of joy.

"No, I don’t think he planned to score today, but it just happened. I’m happy for him, getting the goal."

With qualification secured, Nigeria now looks ahead to their final Group C match against Uganda on Tuesday.

Onyeka and the Super Eagles team aim to carry their winning momentum deeper into the tournament.
