Mikel Arteta expressed his delight with the team's performance, noting they made a significant statement with the result.
"I'm very happy, it is a big result against a big opponent. We wanted to make a statement. I felt a really good energy before the match, but you have to put it into practice," he told Reuters.
The first half was particularly impressive for Arsenal, with the team dominating possession and creating numerous chances.

"The first half was exceptional and gave us the platform to win the game. We were really clever and efficient in the way we attacked them," Arteta added.
Despite a brief moment of doubt after Sporting's goal, Arsenal responded strongly, with Bukayo Saka scoring a crucial fourth goal to seal the victory. Arteta praised his team's ability to regain control of the game.
"The atmosphere was changing (when Sporting scored), they had belief, but after that we showed our personality to get on the ball again, to defend deeper if we needed to and the fourth goal changed it again," he said.
Arsenal will now turn their attention to the Premier League, where they face a tough test against West Ham United on Saturday.
