Manchester City striker Erling Haaland scored one of his side's two goals in the 2-1 victory over Real Madrid. While his goal caused hurt for fans of Los Blancos, his comments after the game provided respite, as they can be construed as an interest in possibly playing for the club in the future.

What Haaland said

Haaland was a target for Real Madrid before he eventually joined Manchester City. His agent, Mino Raiola (now departed), met with the Los Blancos hierarchy while Haaland was still at Dortmund.

While the Norwegian recently signed a nine-and-a-half-year contract for Manchester City, the links to the top two clubs in Spain have not gone away, and Haaland's recent comments suggest that he might be amenable to joining Real Madrid.

The 25-year-old praised the atmosphere of the Bernabeu and said that, “The Bernabéu is a place you want to play; look at this! It's incredible,” suggesting that he has a special opinion on the Real Madrid home ground.

Also, he said that he missed playing with his former teammate Jude Bellingham, who now plies his trade with Real Madrid. “Jude Bellingham is such a good guy. I miss him; I miss playing with him.”

Both comments from Haaland hint at a future in which he plays for Real Madrid. He could be reunited with his former teammate Jude Bellingham and play at the Santiago Bernabeu every other week.
