The Atalanta forward clinched the 2024 CAF African Footballer of the Year award in December 2024 after a stellar season, where he scored a historic hat trick in the UEFA Europa League final, securing Atalanta’s first-ever European trophy against Bayer Leverkusen.
His contributions to the Super Eagles were equally impressive, with three goals during the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations, helping Nigeria reach the final.
Lookman’s success made him the seventh Nigerian to win the prestigious CAF award, following in the footsteps of legends like Victor Osimhen, who won in 2023.

The meeting was attended by Lookman’s father and Mr. Adeboye Anthony Adeyinka, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Grassroots Sports Development, adding to the significance of the occasion.
This comes after Lookman paid a visit to President Bola Tinubu while in Lagos.

Images shared by Sanwo-Olu captured moments of pride, with Lookman presenting his golden CAF trophy to the Governor, who was dressed in a blue traditional outfit.
Along with the post was a message that said, "Today, I received Ademola Lookman @Alookman_, our 2024 CAF Player of the Year, at Lagos House, Marina.

Lookman born in London to Nigerian parents, switched allegiance to Nigeria in 2022 after representing England at youth levels.
However, the visit came at a time when Lookman was notably absent from the Super Eagles squad for the ongoing Unity Cup, meaning he will miss the final against the Reggae Boyz of Jamaica scheduled for May 31, 2025.
