Pierre Gasly has dismissed rumors linking Valtteri Bottas to Alpine as "just noise," urging the Enstone team to focus on the task at hand.
Rumors of Alpine's interest in acquiring Bottas from Mercedes emerged before the British Grand Prix.
Team principal Otmar Szafnauer is reportedly considering the Finn as a replacement for Esteban Ocon, whose performance has been underwhelming.
This speculation intensified following the Silverstone race weekend.
Gasly, however, stated that the rumors are "just noise" and emphasized the team's need to concentrate on the challenges ahead.
What Gasly said
Midway through the season, the Enstone team sits last in the constructors' championship with 19 points, 10 points behind ninth-placed Haas.
"I think it's a lot of noise. I think the car, I'm showing every weekend what we can achieve with it, I'm performing well on Saturdays, achieving qualifying positions that, at least on paper, should be unattainable.
It's simple but complex; the midfield is incredibly tight, and we're at the back. There's always going to be noise, especially considering what happened at the start of the year, but I think we need to focus on the job at hand.
It's a long season, we don't have upgrades, the car isn't in the best position, but we all need to focus on what we have to do and do it the best way possible," Gasly commented.
When is the next Grand Prix?
Belgian Grand Prix returns to Spa-Francorchamps from 25–27 July 2025, with the main race set for Sunday the 27th.
