Victor Osimhen made history at the 67th edition of the prestigious Ballon d’Or awards presented by France Football.
The 24-year-old Super Eagles striker became the first ever Nigerian footballer to finish in the Top 10 of the Ballon d’Or rankings, after the Napoli striker finished in 8th place.
Osimhen also finished above every single African footballer on the planet in the 2023 ranking released on Monday night by France Football.

Nigeria's Victor Osimhen finished ahead of Egypt and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah in the Ballon d'Or rankings.
Osimhen’s historic campaign with Napoli in the 2022-23 campaign saw him finish above Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, PSG’s Achraf Hakimi, Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez, Al Hilal’s Yassine Bonou, amongst others.
Osimhen who was not present at the Monday’s Gala [which was held at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris] due to personal reasons earned praise from fans and supporters on social media who celebrated his remarkable milestone.

Pulse Sports reported that Osimhen and Stefanie Ladewig have been in a relationship since his time at Bundesliga club Wolfsburg.
The couple have done a pretty good job of keeping their relationship away from social media, neither do they follow each other on Instagram.
Stefanie and Osimhen currently have a one year old daughter, Hailey True.
