What Ibrahimovic said

The former Barcelona striker sat down with Pier Morgan to talk about a wide range of subjects, including his family, his career, and life after football, among others.

In discussing his private life with the British television personality, Zlatan was asked why he is yet to be married to Helena, despite being committed to her for over two decades and having two boys with her.

The former Malmo striker explained that he had indeed asked his partner to marry him, but she turned down his approach, saying she did not have to be legally tied to him to be in a relationship.

"Because I don't want to lose fifty per cent," Zlatan said jokingly when asked why he is unmarried.

"I don't have a wife; I have two boys."

He then revealed that he had asked her hand in marriage: "I have asked her, she said no."

shes strong. This was a couple of years ago because I said after 20 years you deserve to be married to me.

"She said, 'I don't need to be married to you to be with you'. She's strong; she's very strong.”
