What next for Flying Eagles after 3-3 pre-U20 World Cup draw with Colombia?

The Flying Eagles are drawn into Group D of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup alongside Brazil, Italy, and Dominican Republic.

On Tuesday night, Nigeria’s Flying Eagles matched up with Colombia's U-20 national team, coming from a two-goal deficit to draw 3-3 in a pre-FIFA U-20 World Cup friendly match at the October 20 Stadium in Tristan Suarez.

The Flying Eagles who had fallen behind after barely 30 minutes, suceeded in pulling themselves back into the game thanks to goals from Jude Sunday and Mohammed Beji before Emmanuel Umeh fired home the leveler in the 78th minute.

A few days earlier, the Flying Eagles had defeated Argentine second division side Club Almirante Brown 3-2 in a pre-tournament friendly game in Buenos Aires.

What next for the Flying Eagles?

Moving on from the impressive friendly results, the attention will be on the tournament proper which would run from Saturday May 20, through to Sunday, June 11.

The Flying Eagles are drawn into Group D of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup alongside with five-time champions Brazil, 2017 bronze-medallists Italy, and debutants Dominican Republic.

When do the Flying Eagles play?

Drawn into Group D of the competition, Nigeria's U-20 side will play the bulk of their group stage matches in the city of Mendoza.

All kickoff times for Flying Eagles matches are 3 pm (7 pm Nigerian time).

The knockout phases would be made up of the top two teams of each group and the four best third-placed teams.
