Olaolu Slawn has officially finished designing the FA Cup trophy ahead of the big final this weekend.

Fast-rising Nigerian artist Slawn has gone viral on social media after being tasked to design the 2024 Emirates FA Cup trophy.

Slawn, whose real name is Akeredolu-Ale, was commissioned to design the prestigious trophy of the oldest competition in English football.

The 23-year-old UK-based Nigerian artist was said to have been approached by the English Football Association to design a one-off special trophy after the BRIT awards.

The news was first disclosed by @whatsonshuffle via a video post on X that read, “After previous endeavors with the BRITs Awards, Slawn has been commissioned to create the design for the 2024 FA Cup Trophy.”

Slawn revealed he designed the iconic trophy alongside Thomas Lyte.

Confirming the project on Monday via his official Instagram page, the Lagos-born designer wrote, “Biggest thing I’ve done yet. My tribute to the FA Cup trophy. Slawn and @ThomasLyte. Thank you @EmiratesFACup. Amen.”

The post was met with a response from the verified Instagram page of the Emirates FA Cup with a comment that read, “Can’t wait to see your tribute unveiled on Monday.”

Slawn is said to have first gained prominence, as the artist behind the cover of famous Nigerian rapper, Odumodublvck’s hit record, “Dog Eat Dog II’

He was also the artist behind the design of the rapper’s 2023 album cover for “EZIOKWU”.

His works include spray painting, large-scale pop art canvases, graffiti, caricatures and murals.

In 2023, he reportedly became the youngest person to design the Britannia statuette for the annual BRIT awards.

The 2024 finals of the Emirates FA Cup will see Premier League champions Manchester City, face off against Manchester United on Saturday, May 25, at Wembley Stadium.
