Victor Osimhen: Super Eagles star named Sportsman of the Year after exceptional 2025

Nigerian international and Galatasaray star Victor Osimhen has been named Sportsman of the Year at the 2025 GQ Türkiye Men of the Year awards, capping a remarkable period since his arrival in Turkish football.

Osimhen was presented with the prestigious award on Wednesday evening, a testament to his sensational impact at the Istanbul-based club.

His explosive debut season saw him score an incredible 37 goals and register seven assists across all competitions, and was instrumental in leading Galatasaray to a domestic double, securing both the Super Lig and Turkish Cup trophies.

Following this dominant display, the club made his transfer permanent in a landmark deal.

Osimhen grateful for latest award in Turkey

"I want to say a big thank you to GQ. I can't forget my Galatasaray family. This means so much to me and my family," he stated.

Osimhen will now turn his attention to Nigeria's Super Eagles as they look to win the AFCON 2025 trophy in Morocco.

The 26-year-old will be one of the first names on the team sheet and one of the leaders, following William Troost-Ekong's decision to retire from international football.
