Dutch international Emmanuel Emegha has heaped praise on Victor Osimhen, calling the Super Eagles star a rare forward with qualities almost impossible to find at the highest level.

The Strasbourg captain, who will join Chelsea in the summer of 2026, said Osimhen has been one of the players he has followed closely throughout his development.

Emegha praises Osimhen’s elite qualities

Born in the Netherlands to a Togolese-French father and a Nigerian mother, Emegha chose to represent the Dutch national team but admits his roots keep him deeply connected to African football.

Speaking to AfricaTopSports, the 22-year-old revealed his admiration for Osimhen’s evolution from Napoli sensation to Galatasaray’s leading force saying, “Yes, I think Osimhen is fantastic, and I’ve been following him for a long time.”

“First at Napoli, now at Galatasaray. Watch him play: with his back to the defender, he receives an aerial ball, a pass that’s difficult to control. It’s no problem for him. He jumps two meters and controls the ball with his chest. As if it were nothing.”

While carving out his own career in Ligue 1, Emegha insists Osimhen remains an inspiration due to his energy, athleticism and ability to dominate defenders in any league.

Osimhen remains one of Europe’s deadliest despite Monaco setback

Osimhen’s latest Champions League outing ended without a goal as Galatasaray fell 1–0 to Monaco, bringing his incredible eight-game European scoring streak to an end.

The Nigerian had netted six times in last season’s Europa League before adding another six goals across three matches in this season’s Champions League, placing him among the competition’s most dangerous forwards.

Despite playing the entire match in France, he could not extend his run, though he remains one of the standout performers of the campaign following his €75 million move from Napoli, where he led the club to their historic 2023 Scudetto.

Fresh off a weekend brace against Samsunspor, Osimhen will now aim to return to scoring form when Galatasaray face Antalyaspor on December 13, likely his final match before joining Nigeria’s AFCON 2025 preparations in Egypt.
