Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi has said he never wanted to leave Arsenal prior to his move to Everton.
Iwobi, a Hale End graduate, started his football career at Arsenal after coming through the ranks at the club’s academy and youth team.

The Super Eagles star would go on to make his debut for the Gunners in 2015 before making a total of 149 appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals and registering 23 assists.
However, four years after Iwobi made his debut for Arsenal, the Fulham star was on his way out of the club as he was sold to Everton for €30.40m.

While he has gotten over the move, Iwobi has now revealed that he was sold to the Toffees against his wishes.
Speaking on the Culture Cam Podcast, the Nigerian international revealed he was on vacation with his family in Dubai when his agent told him that Arsenal had agreed a deal with Everton to sell him.
“Unai Emery has given us the AFCON players extra week to go and recover. I’ve gone Dubai with my family. He said, when you go Dubai, come back and a recharge,” Iwobi said.
“Three or two days before the transfer deadline day, my agent said Everton are interested. I said nice. I’m kind of comfortable at Arsenal.
“Normally, you need a medical before you go. He said Arsenal have already handed in the medical, they might want you gone,” Iwobi added.
Iwobi ended up leaving Arsenal in the summer of 2019, although he did win one FA Cup and two Community Shields with the club.

The Super Eagles star went on to stay four years at Everton, making 140 appearances in all competitions for the Toffees.
