Iwobi fails to impress as Fulham need second half comeback to seal win against Brentford
The Cottagers had a poor performance in the first half that saw them concede two goals despite scoring first.
However, in the second half they made a comeback to get a 3-2 victory over Brentford.
As it happened
Thomas Frank kept faith with the Brentford team that started last weekend’s 1-0 victory at Ipswich Town.
Marco Silva made three alterations to the Fulham side that lost 3-1 at home to Everton in their last game. Alex Iwobi retained his position in the starting 11.
Fulham broke the deadlock just at the start of the game, with Raul Jimenez powering a header past the goalkeeper.
However, the lead did not last long as Bryan Mbuemo equalised for the home team. He also had the chance to give his team the lead from the penalty spot but missed his spot kick.
Just before halftime, Brentford took the lead from Yoane Wissa’s tap-in after Christian Norgaard’s rebounded header.
Iwobi had a poor performance in the first half that continued into the second half, with the manager having no option than to substitute him.
The Super Eagles star did not create any opportunity or have any shot in the game.
However, after his substitution things changed as Tom Cairey and Harry Wilson scored two quick goals to give Fulham the lead.
Fulham held on till the final whistle to make sure their comeback was worth it, depriving Brentford the chance for an equaliser.
