Super Eagles' Arokodare discusses how Wolves can avoid relegation
Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has expressed confidence in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ ability to stave off the drop despite trailing the division with 12 matches into the season already.
Arokodare joined Wolves in the summer for £24 million. He has yet to have the desired effect, with no goals in the Premier League this season, as his club sit last on the log with two points and zero wins.
What Arokodare said
Wolves' abysmal start to the season has already had a coaching casualty, with Vitor Pereira sacked after 10 games in charge. Rob Edwards was hired recently, and Arokodare believes he can turn their fortunes around.
“Since he came in, he’s spoken with not just the players, but almost everybody at the club,” he told Wolves’ website. He’s given us that confidence, and he’s shown us what he wants from us, how he wants to play, and the belief he has in us.
“He’s let us know that he’s going to be there for us, he’s going to fight for us and we just have to reward him and reward the fans that have stopped with us from the start of the season to now, and also reward ourselves for the for the hard work that we’ve put in since the start of the season and try to get a win.”
Asked whether they had the confidence level required to fight the drop, he responded, saying, “I don’t think there’s an amount – every little bit of confidence matters. I don’t think there has to be a certain amount. We just have had to stay confident, stay positive and keep working and hopefully we get the results.”
