Sporting Lagos continued their brilliant run in the Naija Super 8 Preseason tournament after doing Remo Stars a favour against Katsina United.

Sporting Lagos have booked a spot in the knockout round of the Naija Super 8 pre-season tournament.

Sporting defeated Katsina United 1-0 in the final game of the group stages on Thursday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Both clubs went into the game tied on four points apiece and needed just a draw to book their spots in the semis.

Sporting do Remo Stars a favour

With three teams still with a chance of making it into the final four, Remo Stars lived on the edge as Sporting and Changi Boys needed a draw to send them home.

However, it was the home side who stole the show with Silas Nenrot the hero of the day.

What the result means

Following their win over Katsina United, Sporting booked a date against Akwa United in the semis after ending the group stage unbeaten and as Group A winners.

Their victory extended an olive branch to Remo Stars who sneaked into the last four on goal difference and will face Lobi Stars.

Sporting fans send a clear message

Meanwhile, there was a hilarious message from Sporting Lagos fans during their encounter against Katsina United.

As reported by Pulse Sports Nigeria, fans of the newly promoted NPFL side blasted the Super 8 after they were asked to stop making noise during their opening game of the Naija Super 8.

Sporting kicked off their Super 8 campaign with a goalless affair against NPFL champions Enyimba at Onikan.

However, during the game, the fans had their support interrupted by some officials who asked them to stop making noise.

Sporting Lagos fans have now responded accordingly with a vivid message against Katsina.

The fans displayed a banner at the stadium with the inscription “Na Stadium, no be library” in a clear message directed at those who called them noisy.

Sporting Lagos and their fans continue to grow stronger after an unbeaten run in the group stages with two wins and a draw.
