Social media personality and Cristiano Ronaldo megafan IShowSpeed, aka Speed, has apparently abandoned his adoration of the Portuguese star in favour of Argentine World Cup winner Lionel Messi after watching the little magician score on his debut for new club Inter Miami.

Speed gained internet fame as a huge stan of Ronaldo after mimicking the Portuguese star’s “Siuuu” celebration and is seen as one of the former Real Madrid forward’s biggest fans.

Famous YouTuber IShowSpeed was reduced to tears as he finally got the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet his idol Cristiano Ronaldo after Portugal’s win over Bosnia & Herzegovina.
The American YouTube and Twitch streamer, whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr, famously met Ronaldo in June 2023 after many failed attempts to see his hero and was also present as Messi made his debut for Inter Miami against Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup.
Ronaldo fan Speed forced to support Messi after Inter Miami heroics
In the 94th minute of the fixture, with the game tied at 1-1, Inter Miami received a freekick on the edge of the area, and Messi stepped up to take it, causing Speed to issue a challenge to the Argentine.
The YouTube sensation vowed to become a Messi fan if the Argentine scored the freekick in question, saying, “If Messi scores this free kick, I’m a Messi fan,” only to watch in amazement as the Inter Miami forward found the top corner to give his new side a late win.
Following the sensational goal, Speed reacted by taking off his Ronaldo jersey to reveal a Messi Inter Miami jersey, a signal of his new devotion to the Argentine forward.
It is unclear whether Speed intends to follow through on his promise to support Messi despite his jersey gesture, but there is little doubt that the American teenager was left impressed by Inter Miami’s new star.
