Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly reached an agreement in principle for a contract extension at Al Nassr.

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly agreed a one-year contract extension at Al Nassr, which will keep him at the club until the end of next season.

The 40-year-old has been the face of Saudi-based clubs' current wave of ambitious acquisitions of European football stars.

That partnership was nearing an end next summer, with his two-and-a-half-year worth a reported €200 million annually set to expire by June. However, according to AFP, per Goal, he has reached a verbal agreement for a one-year extension.

Ronaldo's involvement in the development of football and other sports in Saudi Arabia made it unlikely that he would leave so soon.

An Al-Nassr official, quoted by AFP, reveals that they have reached an agreement in principle with him on a one-year extension. "The sides have agreed on the renewable extension of Ronaldo's contract, but it has not been signed yet. An announcement will be made over the coming days."
