Rasmus Hojlund was the hero as Manchester United completed a remarkable comeback victory against Aston Villa.

Manchester United youngster Rasmus Hojlund is the happiest man in the world at the moment after scoring his first Premier League goal for the club.

Hojlund netted the winner as the Red Devils came from two goals down to beat in-form Aston Villa 3-2 at Old Trafford on Boxing Day.

Rasmus nets winner for United

The 20-year-old joined Manchester United in a celebrated move earlier this summer from Serie A side, Atalanta BC.

However, he has come under criticism from pundits and fans alike following a run of 14 matches without a Premier League goal since his 72 million pound transfer.

The Red Devils came into the match looking to end a run of four matches without a win across all competitions against the in-form Villains.

But two set-piece goals from John McGinn and Leander Dendocker meant Unai Emery’s men looked good for a famous win at Old Trafford.

A remarkable second-half performance, however, saw Alejandro Garnacho’s brace give Erik Ten Hag’s men a lifeline before an instinctive strike from the Dane ended the forward’s goal drought and United’s poor run.

After the game, the youngster could not contain his joy as he told the Premier League he is relieved to have scored his first goal and the happiest man alive.

"I know I’ve got a few in the Champions League but it’s been too long in the league, so it’s such a relief to score," an elated Hojlund said after the match. "I’m the happiest man in the world right now."

With both ending that drought which sees them move three points of rivals, Manchester City on the table, the Red Devils will be hoping the performance against Villa would prove a turning point in what has been a turbulent 2023/2024 campaign so far.
