Rashford does not deserve Barcelona move — Red Devils legend slams 'soul destroying' England international
Former Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham argued that Marcus Rashford did not deserve a move to Barcelona, as it was a career step up he had not earned.

The England international had a falling out with the Red Devils head coach, Ruben Amorim, last season and was shipped off on loan to Aston Villa, where he completed the campaign.
Although he performed admirably at Villa, his high wages and their failure to qualify for the Champions League meant the Birmingham-based club could not make his loan move a permanent one.
He has been pushing for a move to Barcelona, openly flirting with the Blaugrana on social media and in interviews. The LALIGA champions are also interested in him but are stalling on committing, as sporting director Deco would rather sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool.
What Sheringham said
Sheringham, who won the treble with the Red Devils in 1999, expressed his disappointment that the Carrington graduate was willing to leave the club after working too hard to rise through the ranks.
He argued that Rashford was quitting on the club and had not earned a move to Barcelona, which Sheringham considers a career step up.
"If you assess where Marcus Rashford is at, you strive as a youngster to get to the very top and play for clubs like Manchester United, and when you're there, you appreciate it," Sheringham said, per FotMob.
"You don't throw it away and say you want to leave. I find the whole episode very soul-destroying, compared to the way I was back in the day and how I strove to get the privilege to play for such a huge football club. To hear someone talking the way he is talking, saying he wants out...
"I didn't like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doing that at Arsenal. I thought it was soul-destroying, and I hope Rashford doesn't get the move that he's hankering for.
"From my perspective, if you go from Manchester United to Barcelona, that's a step up that he hasn't deserved.”
