The Lions had a flying start to the new season, winning their first three games to maintain an unbeaten start.
Osimhen, who recently joined the team from Napoli this summer, played an important role in Galatasaray’s 3-1 victory over Rizespor.
How it happened
Victor Osimhen made his second start of the season for Galatasaray since making a permanent move from Napoli.
The Nigerian striker had a decent first game, having scored his first goal of the season in Galatasaray’s 4-0 victory over Kayserispor.
20 minutes into the first half, the home side took the lead from a corner, with Davinson Sanchez rising high above the defence to head the ball over the goalkeeper and into the net.
Rizespor equalised just before the halftime break but was disallowed after the intervention of VAR for offside.
In the second half, Osimhen doubled Galatasaray’s lead with a perfect headed goal into an empty net. However, the visitors got a goal back from Dal Varesanovic’s strike to make it 2-1.
After scoring the second goal, Osimhen was substituted in the 89th minute and shortly after, Marco Icardi scored the third on the night to wrap up the win.
