Felix has revealed that he is set to leave Chelsea.

Chelsea faces a challenge in the current summer transfer window as they seek a permanent solution for the future of João Félix, who appears to be surplus to new manager Enzo Maresca's plans.

Maresca reportedly preferred to sign a center-back upon his arrival, and Félix's previous shirt number has already been re-assigned to Dario Essugo, signaling his likely departure from Stamford Bridge.

The Portuguese attacker endured an underwhelming loan spell at AC Milan for the second half of last season, leading the Serie A side to decline the option to sign him permanently.

This leaves Chelsea in a familiar predicament, seeking to offload a player for whom they paid a substantial sum from Atlético Madrid.

What Felix said

Intriguingly, Félix himself has now publicly expressed a strong desire to return to his former club, Benfica.

Speaking to Portuguese outlet A Bola, he stated, "With Bruno Lage being the coach, who I know and who was important for my career, he adds to my decision and I am very happy about returning to Benfica. And that is probably where I am most inclined. I feel that I need to be at home and that is why Benfica is one of the ideas that I have in mind."

He added, “Benfica is my home. One day I will return. I don’t know if it will be now or in a few years. If it is now, I will be happy. Everyone knows that Benfica is the club of my heart. One day I will certainly return. I don’t know if it will be now or in the future. I have a few ideas in my head. Either stay in England or return to Benfica.”

Chelsea is reportedly exploring various options, including a potential swap dealinvolving Félix and Benfica's highly-rated defender Antonio Silva.
