Cristiano Ronaldo met with the Saudi Crown Prince and Gianni Infantino to promote the eSports World Cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo was on ambassadorial duty today as he met with Saudi Arabia's crown prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss eSports in Saudi Arabia.

The 38-year-old joined Al-Nassr of the SPFL in January on a mega deal and explained at the time that he wanted to help foster the culture in the country.

He has since lived up to his promise, inviting eyeballs and attention to the country, and recently he participated in the Saudi National Day alongside other footballers.

Saudi Arabia has shown a serious intent in being a major player in global sports, as is evident in their investment in their local league, and their bid for the 2034 World Cup.

Outside of football, they have also hosted wrestling and major boxing bouts, and also have significant investment in golfing.

They also take an interest in eSports and are set to host the first-ever eSports World Cup next year. Ronaldo was on a panel to discuss the launch of the competition today, alongside Saudi Crowned Prince MBS and FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

“An honour to meet again with His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman and great to be part of this panel today discussing the future of esports and the launch of the first-ever #esportsworldcup that will be held in Saudi Arabia next year,” he said on X.

Meanwhile, Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi were the only better players than Eden Hazard at one stage.
