Former Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho leaves his Roma future up in the air with recent statement.

AS Roma boss Jose Mourinho has cast doubt over his continuation at the club moments after losing the Europa League final to Sevilla, saying he wants to continue but the conditions had to be tight.

The former Chelsea boss lost his first major European final in his career to a penalty shootout against the Rojiblancos and has had to answer questions about his future after the disappointment.

What Mourinho said

The former Manchester United manager was speaking after the Europa League final disappointment when he was asked about his future.

He reiterated a previously stated claim that he is not in negotiations with any club, and will inform the Roma hierarchy should that be the case.

He revealed that he wants to continue at the club, however, he suggested that the conditions at the Stadio Olimpico were not conducive and that he was made to take on too much more than he should.

“My future? I will go on holiday on Monday. We will speak. I told the owners that I’ll let them know first in case I will open talks with another club,” he said, per Fabrizio Romano.

“I told the club when Portugal called me in December for national team job… as of now, no other clubs called me. I want to stay at AS Roma but my players deserve more… and I also deserve more.

“I’m really tired to be manager, head of communication, face of the club going to stay we’ve been robbed…  I want to stay but with right conditions to give my best.”

Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen is set to become Africa’s first player to win the coveted Serie A Player of the season award following his exploits in the 2022-23 campaign, cited on Serie A official Twitter page.
