Mohamed Salah expressed his anger in candid terms, stating a list of grouses, after he was dropped from the start for the trip to Elland Road.
Mohamed Salah has accused Liverpool head coach Arne Slot of turning against him, and the club, of throwing him under the bus, after he was benched for the 3–3 draw against Leeds United.
Salah was Liverpool's talisman last season. He muscled Arne Slot's side to Premier League glory through his sheer will, goals and assists.
However, this season he and Liverpool have struggled for form, and lately, one of Slot's effort to stem the tide has been to start games without the Egyptian.
What Salah said
Salah was not named from the start for the third successive league game against Leeds. And in the game at Elland Road, he was an unused substitute, as the Reds were held to a 3-3 draw after leading 2-0 into the 70th minute
“I can't believe it, I'm very disappointed,” he lamented after the game. “I've done so much for this club, everyone can see that over the years, especially last season. To be on the bench, I don't know why. I feel like the club is throwing me under the bus. That's how I feel.
“I said many times before that I have a good relationship with the manager, suddenly we don't have a relationship, I don't know why.
“It's not acceptable to me, to be honest. I don't know why it always happens to me. "We throw Mo under the bus," because he's the problem. I don't think I'm the problem.
“I called my mother yesterday, you didn't know I wasn't going to start today, I knew that. I said come to the Brighton game, it doesn't matter if I play or not, I'm going to enjoy it.
“We'll see what happens, in my mind I'm going to enjoy it anyway, because I don't know what's going to happen anyway. The game will be at Anfield, so that will be my goodbye before I go to AFCON.”
