Leeds were the better team in the first half, displaying energy and cohesion, and Amorim's men needed a half-time break to jolt them into action.

Kobbie Mainoo came closest, striking the crossbar late on, but neither side could find a decisive moment in a match light on clear chances.

New signings Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon impressed on their Manchester United debuts, while Leeds showcased their own fresh talent, including centre-forward Lukas Nmecha.

Leeds will draw confidence from their first-half display, while United’s head coach Amorim, will take positives from his team’s second-half intensity. Chido Obi led United’s attack in the first half, replaced by Rasmus Hojlund at halftime, highlighting the Red Devils’ urgent need for a top-tier striker.

Matheus Cunha had a quiet debut but the overall performance showed there is still work to be done.
