Man United vs Everton – Toffees end Red Devils' unbeaten run despite shocking red card incident
The Red Devils head into the game having played a 2-2 draw against Tottenham before the international break.
Ruben Amorim’s men were looking to get back to winning ways and extend their unbeaten run in the league, but they fell to a narrow 1-0 loss to Everton.
The loss put them in 10th position in the league table and failed to move into the European spot.
As it happened
Joshua Zirkzee started for the first time this season for Manchester United as Matheus Cunha missed out after suffering a blow to the head in training.
Benjamin Sesko is out with a knee injury, while Leny Yoro replaced Harry Maguire in defence and Lisandro Martinez returned to Amorim’s squad for the first time since February after major knee surgery.
Veteran Everton skipper Seamus Coleman returned to David Moyes' side in the only change to the side that beat Fulham 2-0 a fortnight ago. Tim Iroegbunam dropped to the bench as Everton looked for the first away win since August.
The match started and just 13 minutes into the game, Idrissa Gueye was sent off for clashing with his own teammate, Michael Keane.
Despite being one man down, the visitors took the lead following a thunderous strike from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
Manchester United pushed for an equaliser in the second half, but Everton’s defence stood their ground to secure the victory despite their red card early in the game.
