Here are three things Guardiola must do to emerge victorious from what promises to be a cracking FA Cup final encounter.

Pep Guardiola and Manchester City are on the brink of making history. The current squad could become the first City side to win the biggest trophy in club football in their 143 years of history.

However, before the date in Istanbul with Inter, they go against their cross-town rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final, and winning that makes them two of three on their way to becoming only the second Premier League team to win a treble.

The first is the Red Devils themselves, and they would be expected to make it a tough game for the Cityzens, despite Guardiola's side being favourites.

However, here are three things Guardiola must do to emerge victorious from what promises to be a cracking game.

Stop United's transitions; keep Rashford quiet

Manchester United are deadly in offensive transitions, especially when they play teams that keep the ball as well as City, and Marcus Rashford is their biggest weapon in that regard.

The England international scored in the Red Devils' victory over the Premier League champions in January through a sweeping counter-attacking move, and Pep's team would do well to prepare for that come Saturday.

Play like a small team

"We need to fight like a small team," was what Manchester City's midfielder Rodri said ahead of the UCL semi-final clash against Real Madrid.

He believes his team has to have the hunger and determination of a small team, and so they did, outrunning and outplaying the Los Blancos in a dominant victory.

They would have to do the same against Ten Hag's side. They cannot allow the United players to be hungrier than them, to want it more, to fight harder, or to run more.

Their desire to win a treble has to trump United's to prevent them from achieving it.

Be clinical

This goes without saying, but Manchester City have to be ruthless; they have to take their chances when they come and not allow United to have a way back into the game as they did in their last outing.

They have struggled in games away from the Etihad this season against top teams for this reason.

They keep the bulk of the possession as usual but have been guilty of profligacy. They have to work on this against United. Without the luxury of playing at the Etihad, they need to finish off their opponent when the chances come, as you expect they will.
