The Premier League, PL, has released a list of nominees for the 2022/2023 Player of the Season Award.
A seven-man list was made public by the PL official website with Manchester City and Arsenal having the most players.
Both teams who have been in a head-to-head battle for the league title this campaign have a combined four players on the list.
Manchester City and Arsenal lead Award list
The Cityzens and Gunners will have their players battle against each other for the coveted award.
Both teams have two players each nominated for the award, with Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne from City.
De Bruyne, also known as KDB, is looking to make history as the first player in PL history to win the award three times.
The Belgian has won the Player of the Season award for the last two seasons but will face a difficult competition from his teammate Haaland.
The 22-year-old has set the league on fire following an outstanding debut campaign that has seen him score 36 goals, breaking the record for the most goals scored in a single season in PL history.
Arsenal’s representatives are captain Martin Odegaard and English winger Bukayo Saka, with both players also been nominated for the young player category.
The duo have had a memorable season, helping the Gunners to a credible title challenge.
Odegaard has been an excellent leading with the Norwegian contributing 22 goals to Arsenal’s title charge.
His teammate Saka is one of two players in the league to register double figures in goals and assists this season.
Others on the list
Manchester United, Newcastle United and Tottenham have one representative each on the list.
United winger Marcus Rashford, Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier, who has created the second most chances in the league this season, and Spurs’s history maker, Harry Kane complete the list.
