Haaland tops eight-man PL list
The 22/23 nominees were revealed with the City superstar expectedly included.
Haaland has had an outstanding debut campaign following his arrival at the Etihad from Borussia Dortmund last summer.
The Norwegian forward has broken all available records with his goals after netting 36 goals so far for the PL champions.
His 36 goals make him the player to have scored the most goals in a single season in PL history.
However, he is not the only player on the list as he would have to battle seven others for the coveted award.
Arsenal and Newcastle United dominate
The eight-man list is dominated by two clubs, Arsenal and Newcastle, who have a combined five representatives.
Both clubs have had a season to remember, the Gunners have pushed defending champions City to their limits in a bid to wrestle the league title while the Magpies, sitting pretty in third and on the brink of Champions football.
Therefore, it’s no surprise that Arsenal are represented by three players led by captain, Martin Odegaard and his two teammates, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
For Newcastle United, Sven Botman and Alexander Isak are the Magpies on the list.
The other players included on the list are Brighton and Hove Albion duo of Moises Caicedo and World Cup winner, Alex MacAllister.
The Premier League Young Player of the Season award is open to players aged 23 and under at the start of the season.
