Lookman to renew Atalanta contract on ONE condition
Ademola Lookman is reportedly considering signing a contract renewal with Atalanta, but on the condition that a release clause is included in the deal.
The 27-year-old tried to force a move to Inter last summer by going on strike. However, he failed. He has since been reinstated to the squad, and there are now reports that a contract renewal is being discussed.
Lookman contract renewal
Lookman has two years left on his current contract. Hence, according to Italian journalist Armando Areniello, Atalanta have proposed a contract renewal to the Nigerian. However, Lookman is said to have demanded that a €40 million release clause be included in the deal.
“Atalanta want to renew Lookman's contract, but the player would only accept if a release clause of around forty million euros were set,” Areniello said on the YouTube channel of AreaNapoli.it.
“Napoli could be interested, but let's not forget that the player, like Frank Zambo Anguissa, will play in the Africa Cup of Nations and would consequently miss several of the Azzurri's matches."
While Inter’s interest in the Nigerian seems to have passed, Napoli are still keen, and could make a move should a release clause be set. Also, Turkish champions Galatasaray have been linked with an ambitious move for the Nigerian.
