Liverpool are undefeated in their last 19 Premier League matches but history suggests they could be in for a tough test against Everton.

Liverpool's impressive unbeaten run in the Premier League faces a stern test in Wednesday's Merseyside derby against Everton

The Reds have not lost in the league since October, winning 14 and drawing five of their last 19 matches.

Can Liverpool overcome history at Goodison Park?

However, history suggests that Liverpool could be in for a difficult evening at Goodison Park. On the two previous occasions that they have gone into an away league game against Everton on an unbeaten run of 19 or more matches, they have lost.

In October 1978, Liverpool's 23-match unbeaten run came to an end with a 1-0 defeat at Goodison Park. And in March 1988, they lost 1-0 to Everton again, this time while on a 31-game unbeaten streak.

Liverpool will be hoping to avoid a repeat of those results on Wednesday. They are currently six points clear of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table and will be looking to extend their lead with a win over their local rivals.

However, Everton will be no pushovers. They are currently 16th in the table and have won their last three league matches under David Moyes.

The Toffees, who won last season’s corresponding fixture 2-0, will be looking to cause an upset to record consecutive wins in Merseyside derbies for the first time since the 1984-85 campaign and end Liverpool's unbeaten run.

Victory for Everton in the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park could take them as high as 13th in the standings.
