Premier League champions Liverpool have reportedly emerged as main contenders to sign one of the hottest strikers in Europe this summer.

Liverpool are reportedly setting their sights on Sporting CP’s prolific striker Viktor Gyokeres as they prepare for the summer transfer window.

Manager Arne Slot is short on natural centre-forward options, and the Reds are expected to prioritize signing a new striker this summer.

While Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz, and Diogo Jota have all filled in up top this season, none are traditional No. 9s. Darwin Nunez, the squad’s most natural striker, but his performances have been far from impressive since he arrived at Anfield in the summer of 2023.

According to talkSPORT, Gyokeres has emerged as a prime target to bolster Liverpool’s attack and reduce the goalscoring pressure on Mohamed Salah.
