Mbappe blowing hot and cold
Mbappe had a tough start to his Real Madrid career, but as Ancelotti assured, he has truly caught form, leading Los Blancos on goals in LALIGA and Champions League.
The former Monaco man scored a hat-trick in the second leg and four goals in the tie to dump out Manchester City, but could not replicate the heroics weeks later against city rivals Atletico in the round of 16.
In LALIGA, he has two goals in the last five games and failed to score in the previous two. Ordinarily, this is no cause for alarm. However, due to the standards Mbappe has set, the slight dip has invited criticism.

What Ancelotti said
Speaking ahead of the LALIGA clash against Rayo Vallecano, Ancelotti was quizzed about the Frenchman's form, and he said, “So bad? No," Ancelotti answered. "What we see is that he didn't do against Atlético what he did against City. Against City he scored three, and against Atlético he didn't. Generally, he's doing very well. We're very happy with him.
"He can't always be at his best. Against Atlético he wasn't, but in such a demanding season, that's normal, above all in players of quality. Quality players have more ups and downs. It's something genetic.
"For players with great quality, it's harder to be consistent. But he's doing well. If we're in the last 16 of the Champions League, it's a lot down to him.”
Barcelona's league game for the weekend was postponed due to a tragedy. Hence, the Los Blancos could see themselves return level on points with the Blaugrana this gameweek, should they manage to secure maximum points at home against Inigo Perez's side.
