Liverpool icon Steve Nicol has slammed one of Chelsea's star players, claiming the forward has been invisible since moving to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku was disappointing in Chelsea's 1-0 defeat to Arsenal and has struggled to make an impact since joining Chelsea from RB Leipzig in 2023.

Despite being touted as a top talent, Nkunku has failed to live up to expectations. Injury issues limited him to just 14 appearances last season, and he has scored only three Premier League goals this campaign.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has often overlooked Nkunku in favor of other options but gave him a rare start against Arsenal.

However, Nkunku failed to capitalize on the opportunity, struggling to make a meaningful contribution before being substituted on the hour mark.

Steve Nicol's scathing assessment of Nkunku's performance, calling him 'utterly invisible' echoed the sentiments of many Chelsea fans, who have grown frustrated with the Frenchman's lack of impact.

"Arsenal were bang average, let's be honest, but they were still way better than Chelsea," Nicol said on ESPN.

"You've got to ask yourself, what are Chelsea trying to achieve with that kind of performance? It doesn't look like they're trying to create chances or goals."

"Nkunku was absolutely and utterly invisible. He's been invisible since he went to Chelsea."

With Nkunku's future at Chelsea increasingly uncertain, an exit this summer seems likely.

The Blues had considered selling him in January, but an injury to main striker Nicolas Jackson forced them to block any potential sale.
