The manager of the newly crowned Premier League champions, Pep Guardiola, provides a fresh update on his future.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was once again quizzed about his future following his side's Premier League triumph, and his answer suggested his days as a manager in the English top flight are numbered.

Man City make it four-in-a-row

As Pulse Sports reported, Pep Guardiola-led Manchester City became the first team to win four consecutive top-flight league titles in English football history

The Spanish manager has been utterly dominant since he reached the shores of England. Pep has only failed to win the league title in two of his eight seasons as Manchester City manager: his first season and the 2019/20 sensational 99-point season from Liverpool, the only league title under Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp, Pep’s long-time rival, has now left the Premier League after only managing to beat the Spaniard to the title once. Arsenal's Mikel Arteta is now Guardiola's closest rival, but he has only managed to finish behind the former Barcelona boss in consecutive seasons.

As long as Pep remains in the dugout for Manchester City, the Mancunians will be favourites to lift the Premier League; however, rival fans might not have to worry about that for too long.

What Guardiola said

Guardiola's current contract with the Premier League champions expires at the end of next season, and he has suggested that he will not be renewing.

“The reality is I’m closer to leaving than staying,” Guardiola said, per Fabrizio Romano.

“We have talked with the club and my feeling is that I want to stay now. I will stay next season. But during the season we will talk, we will see.”
