Nottingham Forest and Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has vowed to bounce back stronger than ever after undergoing successful surgery for a hamstring injury.

Ola Aina picked up the injury while on international duty with Nigeria and is expected to be sidelined for up to three months.

The 28-year-old had started Forest's opening three games of the campaign before the injury, and his absence was noticeably felt in the club's recent 3-0 defeat to Arsenal.

Super Eagles defender Ola Aina extends with Nottingham Forest until 2028.

The former Fulham defender took to social media to provide an update on his status and thank those who have supported him.

"Surgery went really well, and recovery is going smoothly. Looking forward to WHAM," Aina wrote on his Instagram page.

He continued, “A massive thank you to the club, @officialnffc, my teammates, and all the fans for the incredible support over the past few days, it meant a lot.

"I will be working hard every day to get back out there as soon as possible and can’t wait to get back on the pitch at the City Ground. See you soon.”

Aina was one of the best defenders in the Premier League last season, a performance that was rewarded with a new three-year contract in the summer.

Forest boss Ange Postecoglou will undoubtedly be desperate for the Nigerian's return amid the club's packed fixture list.
