I know what I suffered in Manchester - Antony sheds 'hot' tears after being rescued by Real Betis
Brazilian winger Antony could not hold back his emotions after sealing a permanent move to Real Betis from Manchester United on deadline day.
The Brazil international broke down in tears during his presentation, as he reflected on his turbulent time at Old Trafford.
“Only I know how difficult it was”
The 25-year-old, who had impressed on loan with Betis last season, said during the coverage by El Chiringuito TV: “What happened in Manchester, only I know how difficult it was. I’m sorry.” Antony, visibly overwhelmed, paused as tears streamed down his face.

The Brazilian departs United after three years at the club, having made 96 appearances and scored 12 goals in all competitions.
His departure marks the end of a rocky spell in England, where he became one of the most scrutinised signings of recent years.
Real Betis will reportedly pay Manchester United around €25 million for Antony, with the Premier League club also securing 50 per cent of any future sell-on fee.
The winger has penned a deal running until 2030 and will inherit the famous No. 7 shirt, hoping to cement his place as a cult hero in Seville after a successful loan spell.
The announcement was accompanied by a slick social media campaign, reviving the nickname “Antonio de Triana” coined by fans last season.
Yet his time in England left much to be desired: just 12 goals and 5 assists across 96 outings for the Red Devils.
Now boasting 16 caps for Brazil, Antony returns to Betis with the opportunity to relaunch his career under veteran boss Manuel Pellegrini, who expects the forward to link up with the squad immediately in Seville.
Antony’s rocky Old Trafford chapter
Signed from Ajax in 2022 for a staggering £82 million fee, then the second-highest in Manchester United’s history - Antony was expected to spearhead Erik ten Hag’s rebuild.
Instead, he struggled to justify the price tag, facing criticism for inconsistent performances, limited output, and off-field drama.
Antony started just 18 league matches last season before being loaned to Real Betis in January, where he rediscovered some of his spark in La Liga.
His performances made him a fan favourite in Seville, convincing the Spanish side to push for a permanent transfer this summer having scored 9 goals and provided 4 assists in 26 matches across all competitions.
