‘I am willing to serve’ - Eguavoen’s assistant coach pleased with Super Eagles role during AFCON qualifiers
Daniel Ogunmodede, head coach of Remo Stars, was appointed alongside Fidelis Ilechukwu, Rangers head coach, to join Austine Eguavoen’s coaching crew.
The two coaches were on the touchline during the game against Benin Republic and Rwanda at the African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Super Eagles defeated the Benin Republic and played a goalless draw against Rwanda, leaving them with four points in their first two games.
Ogunmodede speaks on Super Eagles
Ogunmodede gave thanks for the chance to represent Nigeria internationally while thinking back on his experience.
Ogunmodede wrote on his X account, “I am deeply honoured to have answered the call to serve our beloved country. Let’s remain positive and united in our pursuit of success. Together, we can be better.
“Any good opportunity that comes from the national team, I can hardly say no. If they want me to stay on, I’ll be more than willing to serve.”

The Super Eagles secured a goalless draw against Rwanda's Amavubi and defeated Benin's Cheetahs 3-0 under their direction.
The Remo Stars coach promises that if Nigerians back the coaching staff, they can succeed with the Super Eagles.
The NPFL coach who led Remo Stars to a second-place finish in the Nigerian league is willing to extend his tenure with the national team.
Ogunmodede and Ilechukwu's support for staying on the coaching staff is building as Nigeria prepares to play Libya in the upcoming AFCON qualifying round in October.
