‘I already did it’ - Moses Simon reacts to replicating stunning goal in win over Rennes

The Nigerian international played for FC Nantes in their 1-0 victory over Rennes at the weekend.

His goal in the 89th minute sealed the win for Nantes, who are struggling to stay away from the relegation zone.

The winger curled a shot into the top-right corner of the net after dazzling his way past Rennes' defence. 

Simon spoke about his goal in his post-match response but emphasised instead how crucial it was to the team.

Speaking with DAZN, Simon said, “I can’t say it was magical because I already did it against Lens (2022-2023 season). 

“So, I think it was the perfect moment, especially in the derby. We needed the points, that’s the most important thing for us. We got them, and we are very happy.” 

Nantes, who had not won since August and were in dire need of momentum in their Ligue 1 campaign, benefitted greatly from the victory.

The Canaries were able to defeat their formidable rivals and earn crucial points thanks to Simon's valiant efforts.

This season, the Nigerian international has been playing well, solidifying his standing as a dependable member of Nantes' squad.
