Tyson Fury show promoter announces that fight with Oleksandr Usyk will be postponed due to the Francis Ngannou bout.

Following the shock that was the exhibition showdown between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou, the undisputed title fight slated for December 23rd is set to be postponed, according to a recent statement from the Brit’s camp.

Fury, 35, is the WBC champion, and after a protracted period of negotiations, he was scheduled to fight Ukrainian heavyweight Oleksandr Usyk, who beat Antony Joshua for the WBA, WBO and IBF titles during Yultide in Saudi Arabia.

However, after Fury’s fight against Ngannou in Saudi Arabia, his camp has now come out to announce that the fight will be postponed, with a February date in sight.

Message from Fury’s camp

Although the fight against the Cameroonian was lucrative, the real moneybag was the undisputed bout against Usyk, which was projected for a £150 million windfall.

The exhibition against Ngannou now seems to have affected that bag, as Fury’s mediocre showing against the debutant, whom he was expected to make light work of, has seemingly affected the plans.

“It is too soon to talk about what Tyson does right now but the Usyk fight is signed,” Warren said, per the Sun.

“It will go ahead but it will not be on the 23rd. It was crazy for some people to suggest that it could still go ahead on the 23rd. He is 35 years old and has just done a 12-week training camp and has just been in a tough fight.

“He needs a break with his family, he needs to switch off and we will announce the date when we are ready. But the fight is signed. The fight will happen. It will happen early in the new year, late January or February. It will be up to Tyson; it is his body. He wasn’t smashed to bits at all but he needs a break.”

Fury’s controversial victory over Ngannou

As Pulse Sports reported, in a major heavyweight fight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Tyson Fury defeated Francis Ngannou by split decision

Known as the "Battle of the Baddest," the fight pitted former UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou, a boxer, against unbeaten WBC world heavyweight champion Fury. Fury came out in the opening round with a big right hand, followed by another one. Ngannou closed the distance and the two clinched.

Ngannou comes out aggressively in the second round and he lands and cuts Fury on the forehead. And with a stunning left hand that rocked his opponent in the third round, Ngannou placed Fury on the deck.

He responded to the trash-talking he had to deal with by dancing in front of Fury. Ngannou's physical condition was also very impressive, and despite the physical strain, he didn't appear at all gassed.

The bout went the full distance and to the scorecards of the judges, who awarded a tight decision to Fury. Ngannou was declared the winner by one judge, while Fury was selected by the other two.
