Premier League side Brentford denounce racist remarks directed towards Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka following victory against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka has been a victim of racism following the Bees’ remarkable Premier League victory over fellow London side Chelsea, leading Brentford to release a statement.

The 26-year-old midfielder came on in the 64th minute of the clash at Stamford Bridge as Tomas Frank's side beat their hosts 2-0. The celebrations were, however, tainted by cases of racism targeted against the Nigerian on social media.

Brentford’s statement

The unacceptable behaviour against the former Midtjylland midfielder was the second such incident against a Brentford player this October. Earlier this month, the Bees put out a statement denouncing racist remarks against defender Ethan Pinnock. Weeks later, they find themselves having to do the same, this time for their Nigerian star.

"Last night, another incidence of disgusting, racist abuse was directed towards one of our players, this time Frank Onyeka, on social media. It is hugely disappointing that one of our players has had to deal with this yet again,” the club stated on their official website.

“It is hugely disappointing that one of our players has had to deal with this yet again,” the club stated on their official website.

“This week the Online Safety Bill was passed - we hope that its implementation will make social media safer and that it will support our efforts to hold these cowards and the social media companies themselves to account.

“Frank has our full support at this time as we instigate our investigations with the authorities. We remain committed to tackling discrimination throughout our game.”

Meanwhile, Nigerian striker Akor Adams has sent a resounding message to Nigeria’s national team manager, Jose Peseiro, with an outstanding display for Montpellier ahead of the next international break
