Aweroro transformed Ikorodu City from a relegation contender to a remarkable fourth-place finish, narrowly missing CAF competition qualification, after taking over mid-season.

His leadership also saw the "Oga Boys" become the league's most exciting team, leading the league in goals scored (60) and maintaining a strong home record of 15 wins and 2 draws in 19 matches.

What Aweroro said

The talented tactician took to social media to express his gratitude and excitement after sealing the move.

“I’m deeply thankful to Ikorodu City FC. You gave me a platform, trust and unforgettable memories. I’ll always be grateful. ” Aweroro wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

He added, “It’s a new dawn with Shooting Stars. I look forward to this exciting new journey with this historic club. Up Shooting! Up Stars!”

Aweroro’s switch to 3SC is seen as a strategic move by the Ibadan-based club to bolster their technical bench as they aim to challenge for silverware in the NPFL season.

His appointment comes as 3SC seek to revamp its structure and restore its position as one of Nigeria’s most respected football institutions.

Shooting Stars will begin their season at home against Bayelsa United at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba.
