But despite their position, Nigeria are still ahead of Ivory Coast, who they will face in next year’s AFCON.
The Super Eagles have been drawn against the hosts, Ivory Coast, alongside Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau in Group A of next year’s showpiece.
Ivory Coast are ranked 52nd in the world, while Equatorial Guinea are ranked 91st. Meanwhile, the Wild Dogs of Guinea Bissau are 110th in the world.

The Super Eagles are also ahead of their West African rivals Ghana, who are 60th in the world. Jose Peseiro’s men are also ahead of countries like Erlin Haaland’s Norway and the Republic of Ireland in the latest ranking.
On the world stage, world champions Argentina remain the top nation in the world, ahead of France, Brazil, England and Belgium, in that order. Portugal, The Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Croatia make the rest of the top ten.
