Ex-Manchester United defender joins Arsenal coaching staff to fight for EPL title
Arsenal are set to appoint former Manchester United defender Gabriel Heinze to Mikel Arteta’s coaching staff for the upcoming season, following a reshuffle prompted by assistant coach Carlos Cuesta’s move to Parma.
The Athletic reports that Heinze, who previously played alongside Arteta at Paris Saint-Germain, will fill the vacancy.

Arteta has spoken highly of Heinze’s influence, saying: “The other inspirations were (Mauricio) Pochettino and Heinze, those two were next to me all the time, behind me, and they were guiding me in everything I had to do in my professional life, how I had to understand the game and they were inspirational to me.”
Heinze enjoyed a distinguished career, representing PSG, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Marseille, and Roma, and winning league titles in England, Spain, France, and Argentina, as well as being named Manchester United’s Player of the Year in 2005.
The 72-time Argentina international retired in 2014 and has since moved into management with Argentinian sides Gody Cruz, Newell’s Old Boys, Argentinos Juniors, and Velez Sarsfield.
He also had a stint with MLS outfit Atlanta United.
