Blackburn Rovers completed the temporary signing of an unwanted Nigerian from a Premier League club on Deadline Day.

Blackburn Rovers signed striker Emmanuel Dennis from Nottingham Forest on deadline day.

Dennis set for Championship move

Fabrizio Romano reported before Monday's deadline that the 27-year-old was about to join Rovers until the end of the season.

Dennis has struggled for game time at Forest this season and has not featured in the Premier League.

He was left out of Forest's 25-man squad for the season and has been linked with a move away from the club for some time.

Several clubs had expressed interest in the 27-year-old forward, including Watford and Sheffield Wednesday, but he joined Blackburn after completing a scheduled medical.

Dennis's journey in English football began in 2021 when he signed for Watford after stints in Ukraine and Belgium.

During his first season at Vicarage Road, he notched 10 goals and six assists in 33 Premier League appearances, despite the Hornets' relegation.

He then moved to Nottingham Forest but found opportunities limited, starting only six league games and scoring two goals.

Last season saw Dennis embark on two loan spells, first with Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir and then back at Watford.

What next for Dennis?

Dennis will hope to play a part in Blackburn's push for a top-six berth, with John Eustace's fifth-placed men in the coveted positions for the playoffs.
