The 22-year-old, who has two years left on his contract was in tremendous form for Ajax last season with 18 goals in all competitions across 42 appearances.

He was also a key figure in the club's Champions League run, scoring in four of his six appearances for the Dutch side, notably scoring against Liverpool at Anfield.

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen to add to his offensive ahead of the new season, after losing Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic.

The Blues are still in the race to sign Brighton's Moises Caicedo, although talks are moving slowly.
