Brentford vs Liverpool: Bees sting Slot's Reds despite Salah ending goal drought
A well-drilled Brentford side survived a late Liverpool hurrah to beat the Reds 3-2 at the GTech Community Stadium.
Liverpool have been in abysmal form over the past few weeks, losing four games in a row. They looked to have shaken it off with the midweek demolition of Frankfurt. But Brentford provided a sobering reminder of their defensive frailties on Saturday night's Premier League fixture.
The Bees never lost the lead after Dango Ouattara's 5th-minute opener, as Kevin Shade doubled the advantage just before half-time. Milos Kerkez halved the deficit just before the break, before a clumsy Virgil Van Dijk tackle gave Igor Thiago the chance to restore the cushion on the hour mark.
Mohamed Salah ended his six-game drought in the 89th minute, but it failed to spark the desired comeback, as Keith Andrews' side held on to the lead and consequently maximum points.
